Get Creative for Charity

Fundraising isn't all about running and jumping! If you're looking for a fun way to support cancer care in our community, why not get creative? Whether you love crafting, baking, or just getting people together, there are endless ways to raise money while exercising your creativity.

  • Host a Craft Afternoon

Do you have a half-knitted scarf or a painting on pause? A "Crafternoon" with friends could be all you need to get back into your creative flow. This is a great, low-cost alternative to an expensive afternoon tea—just get the tea flowing, fill the biscuit tin, and ask for donations. You can even invite an expert crafter to run a mini-workshop for your group.

  • Organise a Clothes Swap

Give your network the chance for a wardrobe refresh while supporting a good cause. Invite your friends, family, and colleagues to donate clean clothing and accessories they no longer need. You could host it at home, at work, or at a community venue, asking for a small donation to attend or a suggested donation per item.

  • Hold a Cake Sale

Challenge your network to Bake for BHOC! A cake sale is a classic way to fundraise, and you can host one at home, at your workplace, or at a community venue. Give plenty of notice so your bakers have time to prepare, and encourage them to list ingredients for people with dietary preferences.

  • Host a Quiz Night or Games Night

Invite your friends, family, or colleagues for a night of friendly competition. You could host a board game tournament, a trivia night, pub quiz, or even a video game marathon. Charge an entry fee to play and offer a small prize for the winner, and watch the donations roll in.

  • Setup a Book Exchange

This is a fantastic way to refresh your reading list. Ask people to donate books they've already read. Set up a table at your home or workplace and let people "buy" a book with a donation. You could also hold a book-themed quiz or discussion to make it a bigger event.

  • Run an Art Workshop or Show

Share your artistic skills by teaching a small art workshop for friends or family. Alternatively, you could ask local artists to donate a piece for a small art show. You can charge an entry fee for the workshop or take donations for the artwork on display.
