Facilities & Support
To support patients and families of those affected by cancer, we have put together a list of useful facilities at the Centre and within the local community, as well as information on support schemes and other services. We are here to help you navigate your journey and want you to feel that you are not alone. Some of the resources available are listed below.
Brewnel’s Coffee House
Staff within Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre are committed to ensuring that visitors feel welcome and are as comfortable as possible. If you’re looking for a bite to eat or a hot drink, you’ll find Brewnel’s Coffee House in the BHOC reception area on Level 4.
Donate Preloved Books
The Friends of BHOC offer preloved books for a donation of 50p each, with funds supporting the patients, families and staff at the Centre. Pop in to see us in our office in BHOC’s Level 4 reception area or speak to a member of the reception or coffee shop staff to pick up a book and make a donation.
Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)
The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service within BHOC operates 24/7 for those who are currently receiving, or have recently completed cancer treatment. This service provides telephone advice, assessment and treatment for those patients affected by side effects related to that treatment. SDEC is a nurse-led service that can be accessed on the number 0117 342 2011.
Cancer Information & Support Centre (CISC)
The Cancer Information and Support Centre (CISC) is a free, confidential space located on Level 4 of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC), opposite the main reception. It's open to patients, families, carers, and staff and is run by a team of professional Macmillan Cancer Support Workers.
